I have never really been into this whole Blog thing. I noticed that the people that usually blog alot are the ones who are constantly in front of the computer and not out there selling properties. I mean, who really has that much time to sit down ad pick a topic and piece something together?
I myself am not the most grammatically correct and sometimes my spelling is atrocious(thank god for spell check!).But I digress...
I am going to be the first one to tell you, I was wrong. In the time it took me to write this little blurb, I have received a couple of really good leads from Activerain. Time will tell if they actually turn into dollars, but that would be up to me.
I am now an advocate of blogging. It could get you more leads into your own website and raise your standings in the web search engines. How? I have no idea.
So, look for some really weird and strange real estate topics and stories from me. I bet you would be able to red line most of my blogs. Especially if you were an English Major. But hey,at least I'm doing it!

I'm having a great time sharing what I've learned - for many of us that's what is great about blogging!
BTW - I spent a year at Humboldt State U, and miss that gorgeous drive along the coast!
Hello John,
I too starting recieving leads when I began writing in my blog. Once I figured out how to make my blog more searchable, I wrote even more. The blog has forced me to become a better writer, which is a benefit.
Thank you for the heads up, I am new to Active Rain and slowly starting to blog, so this is encouraging.

Hi John, At first I thought, "Gosh what nerve this guy has thinking the people that blog are not working!" But, I am glad you are seeing things in a different light. I have learned a lot from other people on this site. And, to be honest, have gotten many boosts from people when I start getting down about the business with things taking a lot longer to sell etc. I have gotten so many great ideas from people that have joined this site, that it really makes me feel like other people really care and understand what you are going through! So, keep blogging, make new friends and learn all you can from others!
Joan
By the way John, this time of year is a perfect time to start blogging--the holidays are always the slowest time of the year for me---I think peopple are traveling, having guests and family around and in general just having a good time thinking of something that has nothing to do with real estate!!
Good luck!
Right! I am on my fourth deal from AR right now. It's paid off for me, although I don't have the time to be a "heavy points hitter" but I do it as I'm taking a coffee break or lunch. Sometimes just a break to refocus!
It's funny how we come around. I have a teenage daughter and have learned to accept this new way of communication. I love learning new techniques each day and when I came upon this site it has really opened my eyes. The biggest benifit is what you can take from reading what others have done before you. I am really enjoying this and glad you are as well.
John-- There is a connection between bogging and getting a higher placement in the search engines.
I've been told that when you blog often the search engines pick it up and your website gets rated higher.
I think it helps when you post to localism.com--good luck-mike
hey john great blog I hear you on the redline........ I too have gotten a lead now off of Activerain and in fact have found a good home for him so we will see if I can turn it into dollars...... Have a great day and look foward to your next blog.

Hello John, I am also new to ActiveRain and I enjoyed your comments. I plan on working at this. Putting more information on and begin a regular blog. I am very encouraged by what you had to say.
I am also new to AR. I have posted a couple of times and made a few comments. At first I had concersn about the time invested in blogging and learning about AR and blogging in general.Although I have not recieved any leads as yet, I know I will just have to fgure it out. With the help of my fellow AR folks I am learning slowly. I am convinced that cyberspace is here. After 22years in the biz I have been part of and witnessed so many change. Blogging is here to stay, and I believe it will evolve beyond all of our wildest imagines. Chang is difficult, but at the same time fun. Wish you the best, have grow, learn, and earn.
Sounds like youve got it. I was late to the party as well. Now though, blogging and internet marketing is 95% of my marketing.
I also spent my freshman year at Humboldt State. Years ago.
Good Luck
Hi John - good for you and glad you're reaping the rewards so quickly!
I love what Joeann wrote in her comment - keeps all those unnecessary hands out of our pockets!

In the short time I have been on Active Rain my idea of what "blogging" is has changed....more than once. Although I'm not up to 100% participation yet, I am completely sold on the idea and will definately be working towards creating an active blog.
Good luck to you!
Joe.
John,
Blogging is another way to market your services, is all. Some stay strictly on the marketing path and get the added exposure that makes the phone ring. Like in your case. Glad to hear that you are a convert. Enjoy the future benefits.
Hi John, I am the top producer in my office. And the top units producer in my company because of blogging. Talk to the consumer, commit 1-2 hours per day, give them the inside info on your local community, and ye shall rule the earth. Remember, 83% of buyers and sellers go online to research prior to picking an agent. Trust me, it works! Google reno realty blog to see how I do it...
Very best,
Diane
John - blog, blog and then blog somemore. This site is amazing and will work for you if you are diligent. Allocate time each week to blog and to make comments, you will reap the benefits of SEO (search engine optimazation). If you already have organized your week where you set time aside to call past and new clients, add another 20 minutes to blog. You are in charge of your business, this will help you immensely. Once you blog in AR, copy and paste it in other communities, it will enhance your website and web presence.
To date, I have sold 2 homes over $250,000 and referred a property ($595,000) from people going into AR and finding Realtors so I know it works!
