What is the most asked question in the nation right now?

How's the real estate market? Any time I wear my Realtor pin on my lapel, someone notices and asks me the same question. How you answer this all important question will determine where your business will be by the end of this year.

I have heard some people say, "wow, I've never seen it this slow!" or, "I had to take a second job to try and keep up with my bills!"

Most people who have asked me this question is either going to put their home on the market soon or they know someone who's going to be making a move. So, what do you say to people who ask you this all important question?

I always say, "It's movin!"

Isn't it the truth? People are still moving out and moving up! Not as fast as they used to a couple of years ago,but it's still happening.

You listen to the media these days and they will tell you that people are either locked up in their homes and never going to leave or they are just fed up with the payments and have walked out.

So, what are you going to say tpo someone who is curious about our market?

It's moving!!

John,

Only breathing and eating take a higher priority than shelter! Real estate is easer in a "good" market, but the professional will always be need, never more so that in a "bad" market.

Yes, it is moving.  It never stopped.  Slowed down a little here in the corn belt, but never stopped.  I was busy throughout the winter months and it is picking up more steam now that the weather is warmer.

John:   My response; Sellers are still selling and buyers are still buying.   Home that are priced right and in good condition are selling fast; and buyers are starting to sense that it is a great time to buy.

John,

Depending on the question, I always try to find an "honest" way to put a positive spin on the market.

John,

I always keep a positive spin ont it.....not to decieve, but to balance the overpowering negativity bashing by the 24/7 TV/radio/internet shows looking to fill time and justify their jobs....

Sure there are some really hard hit area's.....here where I am it has been slow, but steady for the most part.  I conclude b asking a question inb return.....are you ready to buy/sell now?  Let me show you if it makes sense for you......and you are all that is important, not what is happening nationally.

Great response. If the home is priced right and looks good it will sell.

Good Post!

I too respond in a positive manner, but also follow it up with a "why do you ask?" That way I can find out if they have any plans to buy or sell in the near future.
